Workplace Ethics is a subject that we have all heard of. In fact, the subject of Ethics in general is something that most people are familiar with. He is a professional, who is involved in serving clients and customers, who wish to sell or buy businesses. However, if he is billing his clients for hours that he did not actually work, he is not using ethical business practices. Ethics is related to all disciplines of management like accounting information, human resource management, sales and marketing, production, intellectual property knowledge and skill, international business and economic system.
Business ethics operates on the premise, for example, that the ethical operation of a private business is possible – those who dispute that premise, such as libertarian socialists, (who contend that “business ethics” is an oxymoron) do so by definition outside of the domain of business ethics proper.
To achieve ethical equilibrium positive values (those of giving) and the negative values (those of taking) have to be understood and the effects of these values on the business. Successful companies work hard to inject ethics and morals in everything they do and they take responsibility for their actions.
If you start early, and instill a good sense of ethical conduct within your employees, or as an employee cultivate these ethics within yourself, then you can be assured of working in a company that will not fall prey to deceptive practices and fraudulent processes.
However, as populations grew, the necessity for incorporating the best business practices into a company became somehow less important because there was always another customer around the corner and the owner of a business was rarely the focus of attention in a community the way he or she may have been in the past.
